Itinerary

   This tour takes you to the key sites of the 6 June 1944 landings, among shelled cliffs, historic beaches and remains of the Atlantic Wall. A complete immersion into the largest amphibious military operation in history, between remembrance and discovery of the German defensive system.

   Pointe du Hoc. A strategic position overlooking the Channel, Pointe du Hoc was assaulted by the US Rangers, who scaled its 30-metre cliffs under enemy fire to neutralise a German artillery battery. The site preserves intact its lunar landscape of craters and its shattered bunkers, direct witnesses to the violence of the fighting.

   Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery. Overlooking Omaha Beach, this cemetery gathers 9,387 white marble crosses and Stars of David, aligned with striking precision facing the ocean. A place of memory and contemplation, it pays tribute to the American soldiers who fell during the Battle of Normandy.

   Omaha Beach. Nicknamed “Bloody Omaha”, this beach was the scene of the deadliest fighting of D-Day, where American troops suffered very heavy losses against German defences largely underestimated by the Allied command. Peaceful today, it remains charged with history and emotion.

   Arromanches-les-Bains. This small Normandy port saw the installation of one of the two Mulberry artificial harbours, an engineering feat that allowed equipment and reinforcements to be landed without a deep-water port. The remains of the floating harbour, still visible at low tide, testify to the logistical scale of Operation Overlord.

   Longues-sur-Mer German Battery. The only battery of the Atlantic Wall in Normandy to have kept its casemates and original equipment, this site illustrates the strength of the German defensive system. Its four 150 mm guns, still in place, offer an exceptional testimony to the German military organisation facing the Allied landings.
